IONS Research - Living Deeply, transformation in Everyday Life

go to overview

Dear Community,

Astronaut Edger Mitchell on his way back from the moon had a transcendental experience. Upon returning to the Earth he used all his resources to establish an institute for scientific studies of consciousness, Institute of Noetic Sciences . I have been interviewed there several times and have participated in a number of experiments.

Please see below information about their recent book in which such interviews, including my own, have been highlighted.

My work has recently been highlighted in the newly published book, Living Deeply: The Art and Science of Transformation in Everyday Life especially in the CD.

This is the fruit of a decade-long investigation by the Institute of Noetic Sciences into how people transform their lives. This book weaves together wisdom from the world's transformative traditions with psychological theory and scientific evidence to shed light on how transformation happens, on both the individual and a collective levels.

The researchers focused on finding common factors that initiate, stimulate, and support the transformative journey - across hundreds of individuals’ stories of transformation, and across a variety of the world's wisdom traditions - to provide a set of principles and guidelines that you might find useful.

With blessings,

Swami Veda Bharati

Living Deeply, the fruit of the Institute of Noetic Sciences ' decadelong investigation into the power and potential of human consciousness, brings what we know about how people achieve transformation off the mountain top, down from the ivory tower, out of the laboratory, and into your hands. This book highlights wisdom from over 60 thought leaders, including Angeles Arrien, Sylvia Boorstein, Ram Dass, Stanislav Grof, Gerald Jampolsky, Jon Kabat-Zinn, George Leonard, Noah Levine, Rachel Naomi Remen, Huston Smith, Starhawk, Charles Tart, Father Francis Tiso, Luisah Teish, and Adyashanti.

The groundbreaking insights were gleaned from representatives of many major world religions, including Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Native American cosmology, and many modern forms of spirituality, complemented by the latest discoveries from science.
