SWAMI RAMA UNIVERSITY

 The long cherished dream of our great teacher Shri Swami Rama of the Himalayas is finally materializing. The Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences founded by Shri Swami Rama and run by the Himalayan Institute Himalayan Trust is being elevated to be a deemed University. The Central Government of India has issued recently a notification to that effect and the 12 year old Himalayan Institute is now a Medical University , one of very few in and the first and the only one in the State of Uttarakhand .

 The process of elevating the Himalayan Institute to the level of a University was initiated three years ago. Once the H.N.B. Grahwal University to which Himalayan Institute was affiliated gave a no objection certificate, the way was paved for the authorities in the State and the Central Governments to appropriately proceed in the matter culminating in the recognition of the Himalayan Institute as Swami Rama University . This is the third deemed University in Uttarakhand.

 The Himalayan Institute authorities are confident that all formalities to restructure the Institute into a University is expected to be accomplished in a month’s time and the new academic session will avail the students the opportunity to be admitted to the newly formed University. Not before long, the appointments of the Vice Chancellor, the Registrar, and the members of the Executive and Academic Councils of the Medical University will be completed.
